Job Description:

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Millwright for its Cobbs operations. The successful incumbent must have Minimum 2 Years’ experience. Computer literacy, with electrical fault-finding, mechanical repairs, motors, pumps, conveyors, sensors, probes, panels, PLCs, control systems and preventative maintenance and Millwright certificate. The individual would be required to work shifts, have own transport, and provide own basic hand tools needed to perform the function of a Millwright. This position reports to the Hatchery Manager and carries the TASK Grade 10.

Responsibilities:

    • Conducting preventative maintenance.
    • Execution of job cards allocated.
    • Accurate job card administration.
    • Adherence to manufacturer’s service schedules.
    • Adhere to communicated SOPs which relate to Maintenance and the operations thereof.
    • Eliminate wastage through Zero(0%) reworks.
    • 100% adherence to the Time and Attendance procedure and Job planning.
    • Adhering to general manufacturing practices for the food environment.
    • 100% compliance to the Health & Safety processes and regulations.

Qualifications:

    • 1Qualified Millwright.
    • 1Strong leadership and managerial competencies.
    • 1Good understanding of hatchery operations and how maintenance affects chick quality and hatchery performance.
    • 1Good analytical skills and ability to take corrective action.
    • 1Good communication skills.
    • 1Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability.
    • 1Good understanding of PLCs, VSDs, sensors, probes and automated control systems.
    • 1Ability to read basic electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
    • 1Welding, cutting, grinding and fabrication skills.
    • 1Knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, fans and ventilation systems.
    • 1Basic plumbing and water system maintenance.
    • 1Understanding of chillers, heating systems, humidity systems and hatchery utilities.
    • 1Ability to work under pressure in a continuous production environment.
    • 1Strong preventative maintenance and breakdown response skills.
