Job Description:
Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Electrician for its Breeders operations in the Agriculture division. Electrician is responsible for ongoing, planned and preventative maintenance, according to standard Breeders operating procedures. This position reports to the Breeders Maintenance Manager and holds the TASK Grade T10. Knowledge of SANS10142 Standards will be advantageous. The ideal candidate must be in possession of an Electrical Trade Test Certificate and have 2 years’ hands on maintenance experience of Electrical motors and starter panels.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Poultry farm equipment to original equipment manufacturers specs;
- Comply to service interval requirements of each individual machine types;
Address maintenance issues according to National standards.
- Ensure that allocated job cards are timeously attended to;
- Ensure site housekeeping as per Biosecurity Risk Control factors;
- Initiate emergency procedures when equipment issues occur;
- Identify and report on Risk related issues;
- Ensure that all spares and stock of spares are kept and recorded;
- Do preventive maintenance work.
- Plan, schedule and perform cycle maintenance to prepare Poultry houses for placements.
- Attend to maintenance of Electrical, mechanical and basic plumbing systems on Poultry farms.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of electronics and PLC controls.
- Understanding heating/cooling principles.
- General Maintenance skills –welding, fitting, plumbing etc.
- Detailed trouble shooting.
- Computer literate.
- Must have a passion for high standards.
- Driven to achieve results and quality.
- Hands on approach.
- Do it right first-time mindset.
- Flexibility.
- Candidate must have a driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
- Must be available to do standby duty after hours and over weekends.
