To support the local Kariega community affected by recent floods, Sovereign, in collaboration with Cold Storage Group (CSG), has donated approximately R120,000 worth of chicken and dry goods to those in need. The contribution includes a substantial 2 tons of chicken products, providing much-needed nourishment and sustenance during this challenging time.
The donation was delivered to a designated drop-off zone on High Street in Kariega. This was organised in collaboration with Afriforum, led by Tanya-Lee Pienaar, who played a crucial role in coordinating the efforts.
Afriforum, with the help of Sovereign and CSG staff, sorted and divided the food products to be distributed across several areas in Kariega. This includes the De Mist Church and VGK Church, where the donation will be further distributed to other outlets in their communities.
“Words cannot express our appreciation for this welcome donation. AfriForum expresses its sincere thanks to Sovereign and CSG for the enormous donation, which was received with great gratitude by the recipients,” says Tanya-Lee Pienaar, Chairlady of the Kariega Afriforum Branch.
“Our thoughts go out to all those families who have been affected by the severe floods in recent days. We understand the severity of the damage that has been caused and are extremely privileged to be able to assist where we can,” says Darron Gudmanz, Managing Director of Cold Storage Group.
This initiative by Sovereign and CSG is indicative of our commitment to support the community in times of crisis by providing essential relief to those affected by the floods.
