At Sovereign, we strive to make a difference by positively impacting the communities that surround our company. Our annual Mandela Day initiatives are a true reflection of our commitment to community upliftment. This year, Sovereign Cares ran a blanket drive and made significant donations to three incredible NGOs: Special Me Care Centre, Leamogetswe Place of Safety, and SA Harvest. Read more on each initiative in detail below.

Blanket Drive

Nelson Mandela Day Blanket Drive

For the past three years, Sovereign has proudly supported the NPO, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day. Each year, our employees knit blankets which are then dropped off at Melody’s Wool shop in Gqeberha and donated to families in need. This year, our goal was to create 67 blankets. We are proud to announce that our dedicated team crafted 69 beautiful blankets, surpassing our target. That means, since 2021, we have donated a total of 162 blankets to this NPO.

Chicken Donations

In addition to our blanket drive, we extended our support to three remarkable NGOs by donating chicken packs to ensure they have the resources to continue their vital work.

Leamogetswe Place of Safety

Leamogetswe 2

This NPO in Atteridgeville, Pretoria West, focuses on the needs of children and youth. They accommodate and support 82 orphans, providing residence, food, education, and counselling for those in need. Our donation included  Country Range Mixed Portions and Thighs to help nourish and sustain these young lives.

SA Harvest

SA Harvest

With a mission to end hunger in South Africa, SA Harvest takes a revolutionary approach to food security. By rescuing nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and delivering it to those in need, they tackle hunger head-on. Our contribution of  Country Range Chicken Mixed Portions supports their mission to create a hunger-free future.

Special me Care Centre

Special Me Care Centre 2

Special Me Care Centre is an NPO that focuses on assisting children with special needs within Kariega. They care for +-15 children with different disabilities such as Williams syndrome, down syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy. This organisation also received a donation of Country Range Chicken Mixed Portions, aiding their efforts to support those under their care.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to these initiatives. Together, we have honoured Mandela’s legacy and made a difference to the lives of those in need.
