Processing Manager

Job Description:

Sovereign is a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets and has operations in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng Provinces. The Commercial division of Sovereign foods is looking for an individual to assume the responsibilities of the above-mentioned position. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Plant Manager. The Processing Manager position is responsible for assisting with the maximizing of plant throughput at optimal yields and world class quality standards whilst, achieving and maintaining budgetary cost targets. The ideal candidate must be in possession of an Engineering, Food Processing, Production, or relevant tertiary qualification with 10 years’ experience in years manufacturing experience within the FMCG sector. Poultry Processing experience is essential. The position holds a TASK Grade T15.

Responsibilities:

• Achieving process plant targets in line with strategic objectives.
• Defining and implementing good manufacturing practices.
• Developing team and managing talent within the abattoir.
• Manage quality products.
• Maximise process plant utilisation whilst driving process optimisation and efficiency.
• Control operational budget for the abattoir and ensure that cost controls are adhered to.
• Drive a high food safety culture.
• Promote people safety culture by implementing an effective and efficient occupational health, safety, and environmental management system.

Qualifications:

• Engineering, Food Processing, Production, or relevant tertiary qualification
• Strong Leadership skills
• High degree of computer literacy
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
