Area Manager: Broilers

Job Description:

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets, with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Broiler Area Manager for its Agricultural operation. The Area Manager is responsible for achieving the Company’s Broiler KPIs, through the application of precision farming techniques, that result in industry leading performance. This position reports to Southern Operations Manager and holds the TASK Grade T14. The ideal candidate must be in possession of a NQF level 6 qualification in Agriculture, a valid driver’s license and a minimum of 5 years operational experience in managing multiple facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver the required production KPI’s on the broiler farms under your control. (PEF, Mortality, Growth, and FCR).
• Manage costs to support our lowest cost per kg/delivered to plant goal, through limiting all forms of wastage and optimizing efficiencies.
• Ensure that standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are relevant, audited against, trained on and adhered to, on a daily basis, thus ensuring that we eliminate non-conformance.
• See that all Health and Safety requirements are implemented to ensure legal compliance requirements are met and that all risks (biological / people / other ) are mitigated on your facilities.
• Lead, motivate and inspire a team of employees that supports our internal talent pool, through employee engagement and skills development initiatives.
• Complete regular data comparisons and performance analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
